Girl Talk on Digital Citizen

In Podcast 11, I joined Luke to interview Gregg of Girl Talk, a very interesting and dedicated musician. From the interview, you can tell that he is definitely on the edge of something. On the edge of what? Well, listen to the podcast. We talked about his music, how it works and why he does what he does. Art is never completely original if you think of it in the terms of inspiration, tools and elements. It is the completed work that is original. But getting away from theory and back to reality, Girl Talk is creating fun music.

Most importantly, we covered some of the issues that he may face in the future. There clearly could be some copyright issues here with the sampling. However, this grey area of incentive vs. ingredients has yet to be completely defined. It was a great subject to cover.

Digital Citizen

I will now be making contributions on Digital Citizen. Luke has invited me to join the crew (of Luke, Brad and Piotr) to provide news and thoughts on happenings in the world of copyright policy and digital rights management. You can see the official DC announcement here.

I am very excited about this! I will be cross-posting, at least in the beginning to get me rolling. As much as I like my blog, I think collective works like Digital Citizen end up being far more exciting, productive and fulfilling, on many levels. This also means I'll be responsible to other people, and, well, we all know that helps!

So, stay tuned for some more regular postings and new stuff!
